Welcome to the Stadtmuseum Tübingen

You want to experience Tübingen? We offer interactive exhibitions on various topics of interest to the city. The Stadtmuseum is located in the middle of the historic old town and admission is free.

There is a lot to discover on the four floors of the former granery: 600 years of city history and the unique estate of the world-famous silhouette artist and animation pioneer Lotte Reiniger. In special exhibitions, the museum presents current and historical topics related to Tübingen as well as hands-on exhibitions aimed at families. One focus of the permanent exhibition is the period of National Socialism: The “Room of Memories” is a so-called serious game that can be played as a group of up to four people. The room is designed like an attic. There you can search for old things yourself, behind which are real stories that all have something to do with the Nazi era. Another attraction is a VR station that allows visitors to explore a historic house on the Caucasus that was once built by Swabian settlers from the region.

Through events, workshops and participatory projects, the museum is a lively place of encounter and exchange for the citizens of Tübingen. The Hölderlinturm and Hessekabinett branches also belong to the Stadtmuseum. All three museums are free of charge. Feel free to drop by!
